Jimi Pantalon is a native New York artist creating experimental films and video installations for two decades as WashMachine. Through interdisciplinary collaborations and solo work, WashMachine is a conceptual adventure into multi-media collages. By regenerating cultural artifacts alongside dream-inspired scenes, WashMachine inhabits a world of visual poetry and social commentary.
UNEARTH reaches into the deep recesses of our collective consciousness, excavating reflections and observations on our technological obsessions in a post-9/11 America. The exhibition showcases new work and selections from the archives, in a mixture of digital animation, video art, collage work and the feature-length experimental documentary Out In The Wash, which combines cross-country video journals with performance art and includes the WashMachine American flag White House demonstration.
Jimi Pantalon was recipient of the Chris Cunningham Award for Excellence in Editing. His film; BRAIN TRAIN won Best Short Film at Arlene's NYC Picture Show and was shown as part of the 2005 New Filmmakers Program at Anthology Film Archives. Out In The Wash was screened at the 2011 Creator’s Project, 2012 Mixed Media Festival and at the International Center of Photography's OCCUPY Exhibit on Governors Island, NY.
This is the first WashMachine exhibit in Cleveland.
